Madrid Spain and Waterloo, ON - Orange Spain and Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today launch the BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8120 smartphone in Spain. Designed for people who want to make the most of both their professional and personal lives, the smartphone comes in a chic and sophisticated pink finish.
For many consumers fashion is key when choosing their handset and with the powerful and easy-to-use BlackBerry Pearl 8120 in pink, it’s possible to enjoy a unique fusion of form and function. The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is an exceptional lifestyle tool that makes it easier for people on the move to make calls, email, surf the net, take and send photographs, listen to music, watch and record videos, as well as access their organiser and a range of other mobile applications.
The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 features a comprehensive suite of rich communications and multimedia features in an impressively small and stylish design. It combines EDGE/GPRS/GSM cellular and Wi-Fi® connectivity for both data access and voice support. The smartphone is fully compatible with Único Empresas from Orange, a UMA based service that provides seamless handover between Wi-Fi and GSM networks, allowing customers to use the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 to make calls and access data services through cellular and Wi-Fi networks – whether at home, on the move or in the office.
The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 delivers an exceptional user experience through its trackball navigation system and RIM’s popular SureType® keyboard system, which enables a narrower handset design while maintaining easy phone dialing and message typing. Its 2 megapixel camera features 5x digital zoom and enhanced flash and supports video recording to a microSD/SDHC memory card (sold separately). The memory card slot is easily accessible from the side of the smartphone and there are 8GB microSD/SDHC cards available on the market today, allowing plenty of storage for music, photos and videos.
The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 also comes with the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager software that includes Roxio® Media Manager for BlackBerry® smartphones, a powerful media manager application that allows users to easily search for media files on their computer, view and organize them, create MP3 music files from CDs, add audio tags and album art, create playlists and copy or convert pictures, music and videos for optimal playback on the smartphone. The application also includes Roxio Photosuite® 9 LE for enhancing pictures and creating photo albums on a PC.
The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smartphone will be available at the end of June in Spain and is supported on BlackBerry® Internet Service, giving users access to up to 10 supported work or personal email accounts (including most popular ISP email accounts), as well as BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, enabling advanced security and IT administration within IBM® Lotus® Domino®, Microsoft® Exchange and Novell® GroupWise® environments.
